I consider St. Louis my hometown since I have lived here for over 40 years.
About Me:
I am 60 years old this year and the cargiver of a husband (72 years) who has Alzheimer's. We have 5 children together and 5 grand children. My husband was a highly respected physician in the community. His dementia has became more pronounced in the last two years. Prior to that he was diagnosed with mild cognitive impairement. I have a part-time counseling practice. My major goal in life right now is to be a loving and patient caregiver which is becomming increasingly more difficult as my husband becomes increasingly unable to express himself. He stopped driving in November. And even though it was a great blessing that HE made the decison, it has been a HUGE adjustment for us both. We are blessed with many offers of assistance from friends and family. I am hoping to learn more about this hideous disease to better understand my husband and help meet his needs. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
