Along with my brother, we are caring for mom who has alzheimer's.
Of course all the things she used to do she can no longer do. We try to keep her occupied for awhile during the day. She's always been creative , sewing, knitting cooking... but has lost all this. I don't know what else to try. She's scared and confused and thinks she did something wrong and that's why this happened to her.
I'd like to understand better what she's feeling, and help her through it. I'd also like new ideas to busy her. Please help.

Hi Joy,
A sucessful program meets physical, spiritual, social and cognitive activities; try to plan meaningful things within these perameters. I've found resources at alzstore.com for exercise videos & cognitive activities. The most important activity as a family is to begin a biography (this will really help caregivers). Scrapbooking photos, having your children write stories told to them and letter or card writing can be therepeudic for the Alz. person.
For more Ideas contact your Alz. Assn. or Alz.org.
Feel free to contact me anytime.
